Arte e Prudência em João Poinsot (João de São Tomás). A recepção da doutrina aristotélica

Abstract

João Poinsot, drawing on thomistic tradition, in a synthetic and systematic text deals with the relationship between art and prudence. Poinsot considers them as intellectual practical virtues and distinguishes them in their matter, form and mode. With talent he exposes the legitimate autonomy of art and, at the same time, shows the intrinsic moral dimension of all human activity. So João Poinsot allows the autonomous analysis of ethics and technology, while firmly subordinating them to human good. On the other hand, although an aesthetic theory is not to be found in Poinsot’s work, we can find elements that allow developing an aesthetic thought within an ethic vision of human being.

João Poinsot, recogiendo la tradición tomista, en un texto sintético y sistemático trata la relación entre arte y prudencia. Las considera como virtudes intelectuales prácticas. Las distingue en su materia, forma y modo. Con agudeza expone la legítima autonomía del arte y a la vez demuestra la intrínseca dimensión moral de toda actuación humana. Así João Poinsot permite analizar autónomamente la ética y la técnica, y al mismo tiempo enmarcarlas dentro de su subordinación al bien humano. Por otro lado, en el conjunto del pensamiento de Poinsot no hay propiamente una estética pero se encuentran elementos que posibilitan desarrollar una estética en el contexto de una visión ética del ser humano.
